History

Les Caves is located in what was the boiler room of the original Victoria Theater (1910 -1965). With the emergence of the television, many of Portland’s multi-use theaters became obsolete and closed. In the proceeding years, the building was converted to multiple denominations of churches (Bishop McKinney, Good Samaritan, New Beginnings) from the late 1960’s until the mid-2000’s. This building has been a cultural center of the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon for many decades. Our cavernous space provides plenty of intimacy and rusticity that only a building of this age can provide. We are honored to continue the spirit of community that this building has fostered. We have been inspired by many of the underground wine bars that we have visited in New York, London, Barcelona, Florence, Tbilisi, and Tokyo. Let us return the favor and continue the legacy of this community space.
